NEW ZEALAND’S FIRE BILL SHOWS A DECREASE
Forty-two insurance comp*nie« with 12,976 agencies, now operate in New Zealand. Their total ineur* ance cover on 653,362 policies w«*. at the latest computation by tf# Government Statistician, close on £358,000,000. That was the figure for the 1925 financial year. In that period there were 4,018 separate fires throughout the Dominion, these including 28 conflagrations. The fire looses incurred by the insurance companies amounted to £861,977, as compared with the record total of £1,008,746 in 1924. Auckland Had 542 fires, involving a loss of £100,628, the gross insurance cover on the buildings affected being over £1,000,00.
