PRINCESS MARY

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION MANY CONGRATULATIONS By Cable. —Press Association. —Copyright LONDON, Monday. On the occasion of Princess Mary’s 30th birthday a heavy post-bag, many gifts and numerous cablegrams and telegrams arrived at Chesterfield House. Included was a cablegram from the Duke and Duchess of York. There were no special celebrations of the Princess’s birthday, following Royal practice, but she and iscount Lascelles, her husband, left for Newmarket for a week. The “ Evening Standard ” says most people will be surprised to find that the princess is 30 years old. Owing to her secluded girlhood it is only recently that the public has been interested in her doings. Her friends are delighted that she has lost her former shyness and now welcomes company, although she still delights in her uiet mistress-ship of her Yorkshire manor and the care of her two children.—A. and N.Z.
