DISAPPOINTED ENGINEER VAIN JOURNEY FROM ENGLAND By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright Reed. 9.30 a.m. LONDON, Tuesday. Alleging that he had improperly been induced to voyage to New Zealand, William Edward Barnett, a gas engineer, is suing William Coward and Company for damages. In evidence plaintiff said that acting as agent offered him a five years quinquenniums contract with the Nelson City Council at a salary of £6OO a year, with emoluments of £2OO. Barnett sailed for New Zealand with his wife and four children, but found no vacancy. The kindness of the New Zealand Government enabled him to return, and at present he w r as employed in Nigeria, from where he was now on furlough. Further hearing was adjourned.—A. and N.Z.
