RATE NOT INCREASED ESTIMATES FOR 1927-28 Though the estimated payments for 1927-28 are increased by £20,302 12s 2d and the receipts are lower by £8,819 12s lOd, in comparison with the estimates for the previous year, the Auckland Hospital Board has not increased the rate of .25d in £l. This year’s estimates were approved by the board at its final meeting last night. Total maintenance requirements are increased by £29,182 ss, and this will be met by an increase in levy of £ 15,653 9s lid and an increase in subsidy of £15,528 15s Id. Payments are estimated as follow: Bank overdraft, £11,590 9s 3d; hospital maintenance. £2.139 7s 2d; Auckland Infirmary. £1,570; dental hospital, £500; outdoor relief, £2,000; administration, £500; interest. £1,861 10s: sundry building alterations, £2,500; sundry increases, £564; total, £23,225 6s sd; less sundry decreases, £2.922 14s 3d—£20,302 12s 2d. Receipts are estimated at: Balance of cash at beginning, £8,064 6s sd; decrease in subsidy outstanding, £919 7s lOd; decrease in pensions, £500; sundry decreases, £lB6 10s 8d: total, £9,670 4s lid; less sundry increases, £790 12s id—£B,B79 12S lOd. The net estimated maintenance requirements total £159,584, and are provided for by a levy on local authorities of £78.647 10s 6d and a subsidy of £80,936 9s 6d. The net capital expenditure is estimated at £26,000 and the levy on local bodies for this is £13,000. The total levy has increased from £83,994 0s 7d in 1926 to £91,647 10s 6d in 1927-28. The capital valuation is £87.981.622, and the rate of subsidy to levy is £1 0s 6.96 d. The total subsidy payable is £93,936 Ps 6d, being an increase of £9,528 15s ?Ld.
