FERRY CHANGES
BAYSWATER SERVICE TIMETABLE SUBMITTED HARBOUR BOARD APPROVES “Since the original letter came in the whole basis of the matter has been changed, and the Devonport Company has now bought out the Takapuna fleet,” said the secretary, Mr. H. B. Burnett, in introducing, at the Auckland Harbour Board's meeting yesterday, a Bay swa ter-Auckland ferry timetable for which the Devonport Ferry Company sought the board's approval. A report was read from the harbourmaster, who said that, though the new service would mean three less trips to Bayswater on week days, and five less on Sundays, the facilities would be better as both ferry fleets to North Shore would be under one control, and both would serve the same communities. CONFIRMATION OF SALE Members of the board were inclined to be shy of the new time-table, on account of confusion regarding the sale said to have been effected. Mr. E. W. Inder said they should have a confirmation from the Takapuna Company that they really had disposed of their boats. The chairman, Mr. H. R. Mackenzie: We could make our approval subject to confirmation of the sale. The secretary: I understand the Takapuna company is now in liquidation. Mr. M. H. Wynyard: If it is a sale they should say so. As business people we should, before we accept the position, get a statement from the Taka.puna company. Mr. Campbell Johnston: I think it is going to be another feast for the lawyers. (Laughter.) The timetable submitted by the Devonport company was approved, subject to confirmation of the purchase of the ferries. Later the assistant secretary reported that a representative of the Takapuna company had confirmed the sale.
