TROUBLE WITH CREWS

Trouble with the crews was responsible for the delay of two strainers scheduled to leave Auckland on Saturday. The crew of the Kanna objected to the manning scale and refused to sign the articles. However, the trouble was overcome at last and the vessel sailed at 6 p.m. the same day, four hours late. The White Star Line steamer Horatius was to get away at five o’clock, but when sailing time came, over a dozen stokers were missing. Although the offenders returned in the evening the departure of the vessel had to be put off till 3 a.m. on Sunday.
