“NO INJUSTICE”

SOLDIER SETTLER’S CASE MINISTER’S EXPLANATION Press Association T WELLINGTON, To-day. Allegations of unjust treatment of returned soldiers by the Government were made at a meeting in Palmerston North, and a specific case of a settler at Rata was mentioned. The Hon. A. L>. McLeod, Minister of Lands, in reply states: “One soldier in that district had hi* interests forfeited, and if that is the case referred to. it was only because he flatly refused to recognise any responsibilities. He had proved a most unsatisfactory settler, and the Land Board had only recommended forfeiture after everything else had failed. Not only were there arrears, but the man would not even give the assurance that he would meet the current payments.”
