HOSPITAL BOARD
DR. S. ZOBEL’S POLICY
Dr. S. Zobel who is a candidate for the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board is an M.D. of London University. He has been practising his profession for twenty-three years in England and New Zealand and had a varied experience in connection w 7 ith hospital work.
Dr. Zobel was born in Braila, Rumania, of British naturalised parents. His father came from Poland. The name Zobel is common in the Spanish language. He has been twenty years in this country, but has travelled extensively and visited many hospitals in Europe. He is in accord with the policy of the friendly societies that other things being equal the poor should have the first call on the public hospitals. In the treatment extended by the hospitals to medical cases no distinction whatever should be drawn in favour of those with large means. The primary claim should be the urgency of the case irrespective of the economic positon of the applicant. The only distinction that can be drawn is las to the degree of sickness. Those who arc unable to pay should not be harassed.
