CHEN URGES RESUMPTION COAL AND RICE COMANDEERED By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Rec. 11.50 a.m. SHANGHAI, Friday. Simultaneously with the issue of a notice to foreign consulates stating that the Nationalist Government cannot guarantee the integrity of foreign premises vacated by their rightful owners, Mr. Eugene Chen called a meeting of foreign business men, and stressed the necessity for resumption of business. Owing to a shortage of coal and rice,* all stocks have been commandeered and rationed. The Government is also collecting all silver. General uneasiness is increasing.— “Sun.”
