THE ROYAL TOUR
MELBOURNE’S WELCOME
GREAT ENTHUSIASM By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright liecd. 2.30 p.m. MELBOURNE, To-day. The Renown reached Port Philip early this mor*ing, and was later escorted up the bay by Australian warships. The weather is not propitious. Heavy showers fell during: the night, and this morning was cold and showery, despite which great crowds gathered on the foreshore and along the line of procession through the gaily decorated streets, which the Royal party followed after landing. The people gave the Duke and Duchess a rousing welcome. The functions included the firing of a salute of 21 guns in honour of the first birthday of Princess Elizabeth. —A. and N.Z. •
