KOHIMARAMA AFFAIRS

JOINING THE CITY SEEKING OUT CANDIDATES (From Our Own correspondent.) A meeting of ratepayers of Kohimarama was held last evening for the purpose of receiving nominations for new candidates for the forthcoming election in the West Tamaki Road Board district. Mr. W. H. Madill occupied the chair. Mr. A. G. Cottrell, representing the local ratepayers’ association, made it plain that only candidates in favour of the district joining the city would receive the support of the association, and each nominee was asked in turn whether he was in favour of the proposal that the West Tamaki Road Board should join the city. A similar meeting was held in St. Helier’s and the nominations for the two districts are as follow's: In favour of joining the city—Messrs. W. H. Madill, Reid and J. C. Rowe, Kohimarama; D. Moil* and T. Bradley. St. Helier’s. Against joining—Messrs. W. ToddSmith and G. Cole, St. Helier’s.
