SHUNTING MISHAP IN DARKNESS

SHEEP TRUCKS DERAILED WAGGONS THROWN ON STREET Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. Struck by a stock train which was being shunted into a private siding at Addington saleyards at about 11 o’clock last night, two sheep waggons were derailed. One was badly smashed, and eight others suffered minor damage. Nine sheep were killed. The waggons were thrown on to Alliance Street, one being piled up at an angle of about 45 degrees. The mishap was stated by railwaymen to be one of the most remarkable they had ever witnessed.
