New Rest Room. —The new rest room for women in Karangahape Road, near Grafton Bridge was opened yesterday.
Anzac Day Trains. —Particulars of train arrangements on Anzac Day, April 25, are advertised in this issue.
Injured Boy Recovering. —Keith Blows, the boy who fell from Narrow Neck cliff to the beach below, receiving injuries to his head, is reported to be making good progress.
Fishing at Waiheke. —Good fishing is reported from the vicinity of Waiheke Island during the holidays. Trawling in the Hauraki Gulf has for some years seriously interfered with local catches. There are indications, however, that the fish are returning to this part of the harbour.
Amateurs Yield. —The “Daily Chronicle” comments on an announcement that amateurs and professional cricketers in future will have luncheon together at the Oval, thus following the precedent set at Lord’s. The paper says the example of the Australians is influencing English cricket.—A. and N.Z.
Educational Institute. —The following teachers have been elected to represent the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute at the annual meeting to be held in Wellington in May : Misses I. D. Earle and E. Thompson, and Messrs. Beasley, Blakey, Boswell, Finch, Harrison, Hudson, Hughes. Johnston, Lamb, Lippiatt, Matthews Moon, Shepherd. Stubbs, Taylor, and Walker.
Northcote Borough Council. —The Northcote Borough Council met last [n&ht, the mayor, Mr. C. A. Deuxberr >\ presiding. Tenders were received for the improvements to Bellevue Avenue. The engineer was empowered to obtain signatures from Property-holders in that road to the Proposed new levels. The foreman was authorised to carrv out the filling and levelling of the Stafford Road reserve by day labour.
Power Board Meeting. —The To Awamutu Electric Power Board held monthly meeting on Thursday. Pieent: Messrs. J. T. Johnson (chairst?’ *-*• Storev. C. F. Downes, F. dal arlane ’ S * G Macky, J. B. Teas»ie and G. Spinley. The revenue for 6 month of February was as folp'q ■ Lighting, heating and meters, 9s 8d; power, .€1,305 14s 6d; Penalties, £33 Is 8d; street lighting, £2,321 5s lOd. For Februy* 1926, the revenue was £1,428.
