CHURCHES OF CHRIST
EASTER CONFERENCE The Dominion conference of the Associated Churches of Christ, which was opened at the Church of Christ, Ponsonby Road, last Thursday, was continued on Saturday, when the president, Mr. T. Pryde, presided. Mr. F. W. Greenwood presented the Bible School annual report. During the year 103 new members had been enrolled. Messrs. Hibbury, Marshall and Downey strongly advocated a Bible Class Union being set up. Speaking on Good Friday at the Home Mission rally, the principal of the newly-opened college at Dunedin, Mr. A. L. Haddon, M.A., said: “This is a time when the minds of many tend toward pessimism. After a ‘war to end war’ the nations have attained anything but permanent peace. Nature seems to present a ruthless and useless struggle for existence. In the commercial and industrial spheres there is much of the selfishness which allows the weak to go to the wall, while only the strong succeed. What is needed, and needed desperately, by such minds is the Christian message concerning God, man and the universe with its hope and offer of victory.” The next conference will held In Dunedin. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr. W. D. M. Glaister. Auckland: executive, Messrs. W. J. Mason, chairman. W. G. Carpenter, treasurer, T. Mitchell, O. Day, A. Eaton, W. Ladbrook, A. V. Williams and R. Walsh, all of Wellington: divisional representatives. Air. A. A. Creamer, Auckland, Air. H. Grinstead, Manawatu. Air. F. V. Knapp, Nelson, Air. W. D. Afore, Otago and Southland. The Canterbury representative will be appointed later. Air. J. I*»glis Wright was re-elected general secretary of the foreign missions board.
