UNITED FIRE BRIGADES
CONFER AT PETONE (From Our Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, Saturday. Twenty-four teams arrived at Petone last night to compete in the united districts’ fire brigades’ demonstration. At the annual conference the bal-ance-sheet showed a credit of £56 5s 6d, and £2O was voted to the Petone Brigade for the cost of the demonstration. The officers elected were: President, Deputy - Superintendent Doran (Lower Hutt); vice-presidents, Fireman Braggins (Masterton), Foreman O’Neill (Hastings), Foreman Silbery (Petone), Secretary Robinson (Napier). Deputy - Superintendent Henderson, of Hastings, was appointed secretary, and Fireman Stubbs, of Hastings, treasurer. The conference was addressed today by Superintendent Hugo.
