CELEBRATED ARTIST DEAD By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. LONDON, Saturday. The death has occurred of Mr. Henry Holiday, the well-known artist, aged 88.—A. and N.Z. Henry Holiday, whose most famous pictures were “The Burgesses of Calais” and “Dante’s First Meeting with Beatrice,” was born in London in 1839. His first picture was hung in the Royal Academy in 1857. Among his famous contemporaries were Burne-Jones, Holman Hunt, Albert Moore and Marcus Stone.
