BIBLE-CLASS CAMPS
YOUNG MEN UNDER CANVAS HUNUA AND PINE ISLAND The Easter camp and conference of the New Zealand Presbyterian Bible Class Union has attracted 250 young men to Hunua, where they are the guests of the Auckland committee, of which the Rev J. A. Thomson, of Remuera, is Chairman. The Rev. D. D. Scott, of Onehunga, is camp father. The annual meeting, presided over by Mr. T. C. Brash, of Wellington, was held yesterday morning, when the twenty-fifth annual report of the union was presented. In the afternoon the Rev. J. L. Gray, a missionary on furlough from the Punjab, India, and a former Bible class travelling secretary, addressed a mass meeting. The speaker emphasised the special claims of India on the practical sympathy of members, and gave an interesting account of the work being done at the Kharar High School by the principal, the Rev. W. Morton Ryburn, of Auckland, who is supported by the Y.M.B.C. Union. The annual sports meeting will be held to-day and on Easter Monday, which is visitors’ day, a large number of friends is expected to call at the camp. A record gathering of about 230 members of the Auckland Methodist Young Men’s Bible Class Union is now under canvas at Pine Island, where the annual Easter camp is located. Special services, concluding with a camp-fire meeting, will be held to-morrow. The camp sports are to take place on Easter Monday, which will be visitors’ day.
