OFF TO ENGLAND
PURDY DEPARTS LOOKING FOR FIGHTS Making his second visit to the* Olu Country. Charlie Purdy, the professional lightweight champion of New Zealand, left by the Sydney steamer Marama on Thursday afternoon. He intends to make matches at Sydney, Melbourne and Capetown on his way. If things go well in London Purdy will then proceed to Paris and the Continent and later to the United States. As a boxer Purdy has a great career. In 1924 he represented New Zealand at the Olympic Games in Paris, and later, while paying a visit to Ireland, he defeated the Irish welterweight champion.
