AMERICA TAKES PART
WAR IN NICARAGUA LIBERAL PARTY’S CHARGE By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright WASHINGTON, Wednesday. The representative in Washington of the Liberals of Nicaragua, Dr. Vaca, has issued a statement in which he alleges that American marines are conscripting men of all classes and ages in Nicaragua for military service in the army of the President, Dr. Adolfo Diaz. He says the marines are actively engaged in military operations which are little short of actual duty in the firing line. Dr. Vaca complains that Nicaraguan citizens are being seized by Admiral Latimer’s forces, promptly equipped and compulsorily transported in lorries to the front together with war materials. American army aeroplanes are constantly doing scouting work for the army of Dr. Diaz. The airmen are locating the Liberal forces, appraising their numbers and determining their movements. The statement declares this is an object-lesson to humanity which is likely to live long in the memory of Central American people.—A. and N.Z.
