OFF TO ENGLAND
PURDY DEPARTS LOOKING FOR FIGHTS | Making his second visit to the Old I Country, Charlie Purdy. the pro- : fesstonal lightweight champion of New Zealand, left by the Sydney steamer Maruma this afternoon. He intends to make matches at Sydney, Melbourne and Capetown on his way. If things go well in London Purdy will then proceed to Paris and the Continent and later to the I nited States. . w As a boxer Purdy has a great career. In 1924 lie represented New Ze:iJand at the Olvmpic Games in Paris, and later, while paving a visit to Ireland, he defeated the Irish welterweight champion.
