QUARRY FATALITY
ENGLISH YOUTH KILLED (Special to THE SUN.) NEW PLYMOUTH, To-day. Death from shock due to injuries and consequent haemorrhage, the result of a fall of earth and gravel in a pit at Rahotu, no blame being attachable to anyone, was the finding at the inquest into the death of Edward Frederick Petter, aged 21. an English public school boy, who had been in New Zealand for about two years. Evidence went to show that the pit was safe, and that the fall of earth was not caused by undermining. A warning was shouted as the fall of gravel occurred. Gravel struck Petter on the head, burying him to the waist. He was pulled out unconscious*
