MAYOR ON PUSH-BIKE

MR. ARCHER’S CIVIC ROUND “RATHER PROUD OF IT” (Special to THE SUE.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. The Mayor of Christchurch rode to the first meeting of the City Council which he attended as Mayor of Christchurch on an old bicycle. Last evening he rode to the last meeting of the present council on the same old bicycle. In two years he has occupied the position of chief magistrate of the city, Mr. Archer has ridden miles and miles on an old push-bike in the course of his civic duties. At times, of course, he has hired a motor-car, but most of his travels about the city on the city’s business have been by bicycle. ‘‘l’m not complaining; I’m rather proud of it,” he said hist evening.
