MEETING OF BOARD OPTIMISTIC REPORT The monthly meeting of the directors of the Y.M.C.A. was held last evening, the president, Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, occupying the chair. The departmental reports showed that effective work was being done in many directions, and the report of the recent National Convention, as presented by Mr. E. E. Kitchener, was optimistic in every respect. The house report showed that the association had catered for 126 casuals and 81 permanents during the month. The Religious Work Committee reported on Sunday afternoon men’s meetings, which had been addressed by Auckland ministers. Pret-.chers’ Training Club, Bible classes, prayer meetings and foreign work were also memtioned. The fcrembership Committee submitted the names of 29 seniors and 22 younger men for membership. The boys division report showed a present membership of 579, 33 older boys having been transferred to the young men’s division. It also indicated that all the usual club activities were now getting into full operation. Mr. Fred Bridges has been appointed to succeed Mr. Ross as assistant to Mr. George Adair. Mr. Frank Rogers presented the physical department’s report, which showed that in the first month of operation the enrolments had increased from 57 to 151, all classes being in a healthy condition. The young men’s division report indicated that Mr. Miller was still successful in retaining the loyalty of a large crowd of younger men, their activities including Bible study, indoor athletics, basket-ball, etc.
