YOUNG MAN TO HANG

APPEAL DISMISSED DEATH SENTENCE STANDS By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Reed. 10.40 a.m. LONDON, Tuesday. The appeal of William Knightson has been dismissed. The fresh evidence was confined to that of a 16-year-old sister’s statement to the effect that her father came into her mother’s room, and not her brother. Lord Hewart, of the Appeal Court, who dismissed her from the box, said: “We are satisfied that the girl’s amended story is untrue and accused also knows it is untrue. We’ve had enough of this.”—A. and N.Z. William Knightson, aged 22, is under sentence of death for the murder of his mother. The Home Secretary stayed the execution on the ground that new evidence was available showing that Knightson had committed the crime while under the influence of an epileptic fit.
