NEW LYNN SCHOOL
PROGRESS DURING At the last meeting of the New Lynn School Committee the chairman, Mr. A. J. Whitaker, presented a report showing the progress made since the present ‘committee was elected. The most important step was the installation of gas and the' necessary boiling utensils to provide children with a hot cup of cocoa during the winter months. At present nearly 350 children were supplied daily with a cup of cocoa, and as the actual cost of this was in the vicinity of £2 10s per week, the committee was hard pressed for funds to keep the movement going. However, concerts and various functions had been held, and with the assistance of residents, cocoa would again be served. The chairman reported that approximately £BO had been spent during the year on improvements to the school grounds, and that the school could now boast of having playing areas that would favourably compare with other institutions. During the committee's term of office it was instrumental in obtaining a grant for building two additional rooms between the two main buildings. The annual householders’ meeting I takes place to-night. The following have been nominated for the School Committee: —R. Whitaker. R. Wells, J. H. Yearbury, W. J. Parker, G. T. | Reiman, Mrs. S. E.
