OPPOSITION PREPARES
TRADE UNION BILL LABOUR CAMPAIGN PLANS By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright Reed. 11.55 a.m. LONDON, Sunday. The “Daily Express’ ” Labour correspondent states that Socialists and Trade Unionists are unanimously opposed to the Trade Union Bill, but differ concerning the means of opposing the measure. Industrial leaders outside the Commons do not want the Labour members to move amendments, but want them to he absent from the House in the committee stage, and devote themselves instead to a country-wide platform campaign. The Labour members intend to move for the rejection of the Bill and desire further to oppose every clause at length. The left wingers are urging stead;, obstruction, similar to that used by the Irish Nationalists, and thus bring about with scenes the expulsion of the members responsib l o for its introduction. The union leaders in no way support the suggested general strike against the Bill, but various methods of lighting it will be discussed by the Council of the Trade Union Congress.—A. and N.Z.
