CYCLE RACING

BOYS’ COMPETITION SOME GOOD TIMES (From Our Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, To-day. A road cycle race for lads of 16 years and under was staged by the Whangarei Cycle Club yesterday. The course was approximately six miles in length. Mr. H. Hannam, who acted as starter and time-keeper, attended to the despatch of the contestants, while Mr. Slade Clark made the necessary adjustments. Twelve of the sixteen nominators faced the starter, of which Marlow was the first home. His gross time for the journey was 19 min. 3secs. Davis, the second place-getter, finished in 20min. 31 sec. and was followed by D. McDonald in 21min. 40sec. The fastest time was recorded by Deverell, who completed the journey off scratch in 18min. 55sec.
