“I’m not going to sell my oats for two bob a bushel—l would sooner buy them at that; they make jolly good feed for sheep, and at that price they are cheap feed. At the present time I ant feeding oats and bran to rrfy lambs, which I have on rape, and the lambs do splendidly fed that way. Later on, I will probably feed oats to my grown sheep, when they are on turnips. For some reason, lambs are not fattening well this season. I don’t know why, but crushed oats, fed with rape, seems to be just what they need. If farmers will take my advice they will keep their oats off the market, for the present at all events, and they will find that if they use them for sheep feed they will yield a much better return than if they sell them at to-day’s market value.” So said a South Canterbury farmer, in conversation with a Southern pressman last week.
