SEVERELY INJURED
FALL FROM A TRAM RECOVERY DOUBTFUL A tram conductor who accidentally fell off a tramcar early this morning is seriously ill in the Auckland Hospital and at a late hour this afternoon there was a doubt of his recovery. The injured man is Alfred Author and his home is in Islington Street. The accident happened at Freeman’s Bay, near the destructor. Mr. Author was on his way home on the last car. He fell off the moving car and landed on his head on the hard pavement. When the injured man was picked up he was found to be suffering from head injuries and severe concussion. He was taken to the Auckland Hospital, where he now lies in an unconscious condition. He has not recovered consciousness since the accident early this morning. Mr. Author was standing on the front platform of the car and fell over the protecting chain on to the pavement. He was on his way to the Gaunt Street depot, where he was to sign off the night shift.
