ILLEGAL ANGLING

TROUT-FISHER FINED (From Our Own Correspondent.) TE AWAMUTU, Thursday. For using worm bait for trout fishing in the Puniu stream, an angler was to-day fined the minimum penalty, £2 and costs. The offence was admitted, but it was stated that the fisherman had not long been in the province. He had fished with worm bait in Otago. The Puniu was known by local fishermen to be unsuitable for worm bait, and the offender had not caught anything.
