“WARNED OFF”

DISQUALIFIED LEAGUE MEN ECHO OF RECENT TOUR “To warn a player off all grounds for life is a serious thing, and no hasty decision should be made, said Mr. J. J. Sullivan at a meeting of the management committee of the Auckland Rugby League last evening, when notification was received of the suspension for life by the New Zealand Rugby League of six members of the team which recently returned from England. The letter asked that the Auckland body should prevent these players from attending Carlaw Park. It was stated by the chairman, Mr. W. J. Hammill, that the New Zealand Council had no jurisdiction over any grounds in the Dominion, and the governing body would therefore have to obtain the assistance of each affiliated body to ensure that the full terms of the suspension were carried out. As to the legal power of the Auckland body in refusing admission, the chairman said that Carlaw Park was a privately-owned property and the local authorities had it in their power to refuse admission to any individual. So far as Auckland was concerned, only one of the six players came under local control, and after a lengthy discussion it was decided that this player be warned off Carlaw Park during the pleasure of the Auckland executive.
