ARMED TO THE TEETH

MINISTERS IN LISBON The Portuguese revolt of some little time ago was no thing of joy for members of the Government. It was a strange sight (says a “Daily Mail” correspondent) to see Ministers walking up the Avenida, after an allnight consultation, with the butt-ends of heavy automatics sticking out of their pockets. But such is the state of affairs that though all is calm and the danger of armed revolt seems gone, all ministers and public personages walk about armed to the teeth to defend themselves against sudden attack. The assassin of the Premier, Senhor de Paes, in 1918, who was amnestied | some time ago, was arrested in Oporto and brought to Lisbon.
