With the jam-making season almost over the housewife can buy citron melons at 5s 3d a cwt. at the City Auction Marts. With onions at 3s 9d a cwt. and most vegetables selling at little above cost, cheap ingredients fer pickles are also available. Good table grapes can be bought at under 1s a lb. Separator butter is selling up to 1s 3d a lb. Table poultry realised from 2s 7d to 3s Id. Young drakes made only 2s 6d.
