TRUCULENT AND THIRSTY

AN AGGRESSIVE ACT CHINAMAN'S DOOR SMASHED (From Our Oxen Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, To-day. When Edward Sandford, aged 42 years, went into a Chinaman's shop and called for a soft drink the celestial proprietor refused him a glass from which to drink, Anally snatching back the bottle and slamming the inner door to the back of the shop in his customer’s face. Sandford, who had had a few drinks and was, so counsel admitted in court to-day, in a slightly truculent mood, in the heat of the moment picked up a stepladder and pushed it through the glass door, damaging it to the extent of £2. This escapade cost Sandford and he was ordered to make the damage good.
