PICKPOCKET GAOLED (From Our Oxen Coi~respondent.) WELLINGTON, To-day. Described as a professional pickpocket with a long record in Australia, James O’Brien appeared in the dock to-day charged with being an idle and disorderly person. Chief-Detective Ward £aid O’Brien frequented hotels in the city and twice recently drunken men had been robbed of various sums about these places. O’Brien was identified as one of two men who robbed a man of £25 at the week-end. but Owing to the . drunken condition of the victim it was useless going on with the charge. O'Brien is to spend three mpnths in gaol.
