WOMEN POLICE
REQUEST TO GOVERNMENT ESTABLISHED OVERSEAS That women police be established in New Zealand was the crux of a resolution passed at the annual convention of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union after hearing Miss Henderson’s address on the subject last evening. Miss Henderson recalled that women police were first established in England during the war, first by volunteer organisations and later by the Government. The speaker described the women police systems of the United States, where the. movement was probably stronger than in any other country. She also referred to what had been done in Australia. After an address by Miss Ivirk, J.P., of Wellington, a resolution was carried asking for the establishment of Women’s Courts for adjudication upon cases concerning women ;ind children.
