Fat sheep.—The yarding comprised n full races, which was larger than the previous week. The demand was not as firm as the previous week, when sun. plies were shorter, and the range of prices was about down to that of the sale of a fortnight ago. Extra prime wethers realised up to 33s 4d; prime wethers 26s 6d to 295; medium wethers 24s 6d to 265; light wethers, 22s 4d to 245; Merino wethers. 9s Id; extra prime ewes, to 26s Id; prime ewes. 17s 6d to 225; medium ewes, 14s 6d to 17s; light ewes, 13s to 14s; aged ewes, Us lOd to 12s 6d. Store Sheep.—Best forward lambs made up to 18s; fairly good rape lambs, 14s to 15s 6d; medium lambs. 12s 6d to 13s 9d; small and inferior lambs, 10s 6d to 12s; cull lambs, Ss to 10s; good half, bred ewe lambs, 22s to 23s lid; ordinary halfbred lambs, 22s to 23s lid; ordinary half bred ewe lambs, 22s to 23s lid; ordinary halfbred ewe lambs, 20s to 20s 6d; three-quarterbred ewe lambs, 17s to l&s 6d; best North Island two-toothed ewes to 325; good North Island two-toothed crossbred ewes, 20s to 26s 6d; inferior ? four, six and eight-toothed crassbred ewes, 15s 6d to 19s; five-year-old crossbred ewes, 14s to 18s 6d; good two-toothed halfbred ewes, 30s to 34s 9d; ordinary two-toothed halfbred ewes, 21s to 27s 3d; five-year-old halfbred ewes, 17s to 20s Dd; forward four and six-toothed halfbred wethers. 19s 6d to 20s lid; failing-mouthed halfbred wethers, 14s to 17s 6d. Fat Cattle.—There was a much larger entry of fat cattle than last week, when there was a scarcity of prime sorts. The market was firmer for prime quality, and other descriptions sold at previous week's rates. Prime heavy-weight steers sold up to £l6 7s 6d; prime medium-weight steers, £l2 5s to £l4 10s; medium quality steers, £9 to £ll ss; light steers, £5 10s to £lB 10s; extra prime heifer?, to £l2 12s 6d; prime heifers, £8 to £9 10s; light heifers, £4 to £2 10s; extra prime cows, to £ll 7s 6d; prime cows, £6 10s to £8 10s; ordinary cows, £4 15s to £6 ss; rough cows, £3 10s to £4. Store Cattle.—All the lines of steers* were passed in. £6 being the best bid for the oldest cattle, and £4 for the young steers. Best store cows made £2 10s to £3 15s; a line of young cows, £2 Us; potters, £1 5s to £1 10s; bulls, £4 to £lO. Dairy Cattle. —The entry totalled 6| head, and met with a good demand. Best, 1 second, third and fourth c&lvers brought £9 10s to £l3; medium sorts, £7 to £9; inferior sorts, £3 10s to £6 10s; best springing heifers, £8 to £l2 10s; others, £4 10s to £7 10s* old cows in profit, £3 to £5 ss. Vealers.—A fairy large yarding, a large proportion being yearlings to IS months old. Values were on a par with the previous week. Large sorts sold up to £6 ss: good vealers £5 to £5 15s; medium, £3 10s to £4 17s 6d; small and inferior calves, 10s to 15s. Pigs.—There was a larger entry of pigs, and an improved demand for fat pigs, the operations of a Southland buyer stimulating the competition. Choppers brought £3 to £6 6s 6d; heavy baconers, £3 12s to £4; extra heavy, to £s—equal to 7d. per lb. Large porkers, £2 16s to £3 7s; light porkers, £2 7s to £2 15s—equal to Bd. to 83d. per lb. Large stores, 37s to 445; extra, to 50s; medium, 27s to 355; slips, 21s to 25s 6d: large weaners, to 19s; medium weaners. to 19s; medium weaners, 14s to 17s 6d: small weaners, 9s 6d to 14s 6d; sows in pig, £3 10s to , £4 11s.
