A SMALL ENTRY 1 Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday, ine annual ram and ewe fair under ‘the auspices of the Canterburv A. and P Association opened to-day at the Showgrounds, Addington, before a very lar*re attendance of buyers. The entry comf„ r i se s 3,820 flock and 215 stud rams, and and flock ewes, compared with flock and 216 stud rams at last year s fair. Border Leicester showed the greatest decline in numbers. . Waipara, topped the sales, and Mr, F. M. Young, Winchester, was next with 9gns. Bord.i' Leicesters were dull of sale, only a few pens of really good sheep exciting much competition. Mr. J. Studholmes were dull of sale at 2'.gns to 6|gns Ryelands did not sell freelv at 4gns. to ssgns. Southdowns met with the best sale of the day, competition being keen throughout, and the range of prices was sgns. to 1 3gns., most of the sales being made 6gns. to 9gns. The highest price was obtained by Mr. W. J. Jenkins, Wad-' dington. No Lincolns or Merinos were sold. A pen of Suffolks made 4gns.
