TARANAKI OILS HARDER MOANATAIARI (CON.) ACTIVE A distinctly brighter tone was registered on the Auckland , Stock Exchange this morning. Several classes of investments were active and a number of sales were recorded. Gilt-edged securities were in better demand, though no sales were recorded. Bank shares were idle, but one parcel of Union Bank changed hands yesterday afternoon at £ls 15s. Taranaki Oils are active and continue to harden. One sale was registered at 11s and sellers now quote 13s 9d, with buyers offering 12s 4d. Mining shares continue to arouse interest and several parcels are changing hands. Most interest centres round Moanataiari, advice recording favourable progress at the mine being received on the ’Change almost daily. Several parcels of Moanataiari (con.) were contracted for at from 5s 2d to 5s fid. Quotations closed at mid-day with sellers asking 5s 6d.
