WOOLLEN MILL SCHEME

ABANDONMENT MOTION REJECTED Press Association GORE, Wednesday. At the annual meeting to-day of the Southland Woollen Mills, Ltd., which p »poses to erect woollen mills at Gore, a keen debate took place on a motion by a Dunedin director that «the company go into voluntary liquidation. Mr. Halliday, the mover, held that the company had insufficient capital, the total to date being £71,000. He said the small mill it was proposed to erect would have no chance of competing with established concerns. Air. Ellis, of Dunedin, seconded the motion. A count of votes this evening resulted:—Against liquidation. 20,265; for liquidation. 12,645.
