JUNIOR GRADES NEARLY ONE HUNDRED TEAMS

It was stated at the annual meeting of the Junior Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby League, held last evening, that the number of junior players exceeded 1,5t)0. The secretary reported that the number of teams last year was 84. He expected that the number nominated this year would approach the hundred mark. Th€i chairman, Mr. A. Adamson, reported an acute shortage of grounds. He asked the clubs to be on the lookout for new playing areas to relieve the present congestion. Nominations for all junior grades will dose on April 12, and it is expected that the opening games will be held on April 30. Mr. "W. J. Hammill’s cup for competition among the junior teams was allotted to the sixth B grade. The election of officers resulted as follows: Management Committee, Messrs A. Adamson (chairman), E. W. Perry (lion, secretary), T. Cleal, A. P. Trembath, H. Douglas, A. Hopkinson, C. Howe, S. Montgomery, W. Hillborn, R. Short, S. H. Davis, F‘. Kennedy, A. Roe, C. Chapman. A Grounds and Weighing Committee will be appointed at the next mee ing to be held on Tuesday. REVIVAL OF REMUERA CLUB, During this week a meeting of enthusiasts was ‘ held to revive the Remuera League Club. Before the war this club was represented by two teams, and this year two strong teams will again take the field. Mr. Hammill, of the Auckland Rugby League, addressed the general meeting. Tile revival of the club is due largely to the efforts of Mr. F. Thompson, the prominent referee, and Mr. F. White and Mr. L. Dickenson. The following officers were elected: President, Dr. Pezaro; hon. secretary, Mr. G. McConnell; horn-treasurer, Mr. A. Grey; chairman, Mr. L. Dickenson.
