THE MAJESTIC THEATRE
“ONE INCREASING PURPOSE” “ One Increasing Purpose,” one of the most-talked-off books of the year, has been brought to the screen by Fox Films, and will be shown for the first time at the Majestic Theatre on Friday next. It is said to exceed in dramatic values and presentation the production of “ If Winter Comes,” Mr. Hutchinson’s other novel, which proved such a sensation a few years ago. “ One Increasing Purpose ” is a picture with a message for millions. In it is embodied the author’s idea of the solution of the problems which confront thp world to-day namely that the secret of happiness is kindness toward one’s . . _ fellow men. The story was inspired by Tennyson’s confession of raith, “‘i doubt not through the ages one increasing purpose runs.” The characters are real people—thiee brothers of a middle-class wealthy family unlike in temperament as brothers usually are, each with his own particular problem and ambition. Edmund Lowe plays the role of bim Paris, the visionary whose search for the “ Purpose ” behind the scheme ot things provides the plot of the story. Holmes Herbert is the down-trodden brother, Charles, who finally kills himself when all of his dreams come tumbling dowm about his ears. Huntley Gordon is Andrew, the eldest brother, whose high finance almost ruins the lives of his entire family. Lila Lee, May Allison and Jane Novak play leading roles.
