BLUNT’S FINE RECORD 917 IN TEST MATCHES (Special to THE SUN.) CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. With scores of 47 and 187 made in the Test match against the Melbourne cricket team, Roger Blunt has scored 917 runs in Test matches for New Zealand. He has made these runs in 25 innings, so his average 36 68 runs per innings. Blunt has now the honour of having scored more runs for New Zealand in tests than any other batsman. For a long time the honour was held by D. Reese, with a total of 861 runs. Blunt’s record is a better one than that of Reese, as he has made his run* in 25 innings, and Reese had 31. Blunt has also beaten Reese for th honour of having made the highest in dividual score in test matches for New Zealand. Reese had held the record since March, 1903, when he made 1? against an English eleven at Wellir ton.
