CORRESPONDENCE.

\\ e arc always willing to give insertion to letters of explanation or interest, but we wish it to be distinctly understood that we do not endorse the opinions expressed, or language used, by our correspondents. Our ideas of passing events will bo found in our local or editorial columns. AN EXPLANATION. TO THE KDITOK OF THE SAMOA TIMES. Sir.,—l regret to find, that in a letter which I addressed to yon last woek, and which was published in your last issue, I inadvertently fell into the error of supposing that the gentleman referred to as paying " one dollar per annum" to the funds of the Municipality, had signed the Petition addressed to the Municipal Board by the clerks, book-keepers, and salesmen of Apia. My letter was written in perfect good faith, and under the belief that the Petition was signed as described. I now find that I was mistaken, and the most I can say is that I am heartily sorry if my blunder has caused any unpleasantness. I am, &0., Anti-Humbco.
