Dean, with maim- ; ing and wounding a cow. Tlio injury r was declared to be accidental, which was ■ so held by the Court. Out of Court the matter was settled in a friendly manner, Father Broyer taking the injured cow and paying Mr. Dean 537:50. * Stealing a Hat.—Oassey charged Sila, on Saturday last, before T. M. Dawsun, Esq., U. S. Consul, local magistrate < for the week, with stealing a hat. Sila , denied the theft, hut admitted taking and j losing ihe hat, and was ordered to pay - J1:25 for it. Thanks.—The Mother Superior of the - Apia Convent has authorised us to state < that the Sisters thank all persons who had the kindness to interest themselves ( in the raffle for the benefit of their Cou- i vent. The success obtained is far beyond their expectation. . School Examination. The half- : yearly examination of the children attending the Apia Protestant School will take place at the school-room, on Thurs- ' day next. Parents, guardiims, and friends are invited to attend. I'l'liuc Meeting.—By reference to ( our advertising columns, it will lie ob- '. served that a public meeting of the residents in the town and district of Apia id called for the 23rd instant, at 7..55J p.m., to be held in the Rarotonga Church, opposite the Hotel zur Stadt Hamburg, Mntafele. The objoct of the meeting is to elect three supervisors, an assessor, a collector, and a treasurer for the Municipal Board of Apia.
