Tina* Offie*, Triday Xvaniag. Now that the war is over it is expected ■"that am improvement in business generally will shortly b* felt, but during the past week things have been very quiet. On Thursday last Mr. Alvord hold a pretty extensive auction of household furniture und effect*, at which the bidding was very spirited throughout, and, on the whole, .very fair prices were realised. Mr. Hunt's auction of geueral merchandise, advertised lor yesterday, fell through in consequence of th* very small attendance of buyer*.
