On Monday last a trial of skill with the willow between the officers of 11. B. M. S. Cormorant and residents of Apia took place at Vailele. Tho match was an impromptu one, and though the local representatives were defeated, they, as well as their opponents, spent a most enjoyable day. Tho two teams and several visitors partook of an excellent luncheon at the invitation of Mr. Brancker. It will be seen that in the first innings of the Cormorant, Mr. E. W. Wallington scored 2(i, against 22 made by the whole of the Apia team; but it is only fair to to them to state that Mr. Walliugton is one of tho crack Oxford bats. The. following is the score :■—■ H.
