A MAD DOG-GREL.
i Twu quarter night, and the teacher sat His record-books perusing; He averaged this, and avenged that. His brain and average both confusing. He reckoned per oentaga to many boys; And so many girls, all counted; And then the " latet" and absentees, And to what the absences amounted. The date of admission of everyone, And all oases of flagellation , And prepared a list of the subjects too, For the next examination. His weary head tank low on his bock, • And his weary heart much lower : For some of his pupils had little brain, Tho' parents thought they'd more The -.eacher with death has taken hie flight, Leaving behind but the faintest traces, But the ghost of the teacher haunts each Some old familiar places He comes to the place where they'd thrown his bones, That place with skeletons strewn over, Where the sexton flam dug up hb skull, Once buried beneath the clover A phrenologist just strolling by. stepped in to chat with Sam the nigger, Picked up the skull—looked through the eye:— The skull was cracked with many ■» figure 1 T ust so I thought," the savant mused " Hew easy 'tis to tell 'em ! Th:s9 horrid fractions all confused Hi.? cerebrum and seredellum." " By fracture, sir," said 3am, " Me guess him martyr preacher."
