LAMENT.
When shall I hear from 'Frisco, From Oakland's park and trees ? No vessel ever comes here. From 'Frisco o'er the sees. Night after night I sit, In hope and in disgust, Doing nothing while I stay, As while I stay I must. I view the mighty deep, Where no sail does appear, I feel I am at sea, and siok, And don't know why I'm here I plead anxiety and iiervousnsas. For which I have good ground , Where ever is the Wandrahm, Whet* can that ship be found ? IVo and two make four, Three months a quarter year, But howthat'sgoingto help me through, Is not to me so dear. To 'Frisco o'er the sea,. Please Oakland's suburbs add, The treasures there abiding, To thick of make me sad la memory I live again, In that sweet fairy spot, I only wish I had ne'er base, Or laving been, was not Now 'neolh Samoa's starry skies, IsoHterr moan, la spite of polly, pup, and puss, like Crusoe I'm alone. I long, I orave, oaee more to hear, Sweet Oakland's church balk wail, I've stay'd too long, I'm sick, at heart, . No snip hat brought a mail
