RACES AT VAILELE.
On ('hristmas Day, several of the German residents of our town, being desirous of testing the racing qualities of their horses, and enjoying a day's sport,betook themselves to Vailele, when three very good races took place. The stakes run tor were honour ami sport. The following is the result: — First Race.—There were three burses started for Ibis race. Jenny got a good start, and led for half the distance, where she was overtaken by the other two. Hans would in all probability have been the winner, but he bolted off the course. Fritz, F. Second lloce.—Four horses startedThis was a good race, l'uti, Jack, ami Thomas passing the winning post well together, with Doctor three lengths behind, l'uti, F. \V. Bauer 1 •hick, R Petersen •> Thomas, A. Qodeffroy :t Dootor, F. Uerdson 4 Third Race.—ln this race only two horses started, and when they came up to the winning post Peter was only half a head behind. At this point Lucy fell landed her rider some two lenirths ahead. I V, J. !'. Xeill 1 Peter, A Qodeffroy 2 The day turned out rather wet, making it somewhat uncomfortable, otherwise all the parties present appeared to enjoy themselves.
